Beginners and Champion boxers train here at Degerberg Academy of Martial Arts. If you are a Beginner, our program will teach you fundamentals, then work with you improve your technique, speed, and endurance in a safe environment. We will coach you and we will challenge you at your level.
Imagine yourself, bobbing, weaving, moving in, jab, cross, uppercut, move out. Sweat drips, he's good, but you're better. Footwork practice is paying off.
You come in for another combination, slip left avoiding his jab, your next 3 punches connect. What used to make you tired, makes you smile through your mouthguard now.
This could be you. With the right coaching and practice, you can take what you learn here and take it to any level you want. You can learn to protect yourself. If you want to compete, you can take it to the level of Rita Figueroa or Oscar Bravo, who train here (shown in the photo below). Both hold boxing titles. Take your skills to wherever you want to go.

What's it like to train here?
We offer group boxing classes where you'll learn techniques that build effective punches and footwork. Each class You will get a workout. You will be challenged. You'll practice punching. You'll practice defense tactics. You'll practice winning strategies. You'll spar. You'll learn.
You can work heavy bags, speed bags and build endurance with timed sessions. You can spar with classmates and eventually climb in the ring and practice. You'll pick up tips from better boxers.
The transformation that happens to our boxers is amazing. People start boxing classes and, at first, they are worn out after class. They may be stiff and clumsy and afraid of getting hit. That's understandable and it's OK.
A select number of people have sincere desire, the heart and determination. They stick with it. They keep coming and practicing and their endurance builds. What used to make them tired is not a problem anymore. Their body mechanics change from stiffness and clumsiness to grace and mastery. Their thinking transforms from fear and uncertainty to automatic, fast and dominating reaction.
Your heart's thumping like a drum in your chest. You sense the rhythm of your opponent's attack. You know what to do and do it. You hear the pow-pa-pow of your own punches. So fast.
